I don’t think there is much evidence to suggest a recession would necessarily be “catastrophic”. I know the memories of 2008 are still Fresh in our minds but that was much more than a recession. 2 straight quarters of mild economic contraction would not be catastrophic. In fact it could be quite ordinary. It all depends on what triggers the recession.
