I tend to agree with you about this. However, I’ve heard some good arguments that it’s very possible that tax rates will be higher in the future than they are today. That would be the best argument for the Roth.

If you can withdraw tax free in the future when tax rates are higher than today you could be better off. But who knows how taxes will shake out in the future.
