My 3 Best Articles in April
April was a productive month. I published 14 new articles between my two publications;
- Making of a Millionaire, which focuses on personal finance and
- Impact economics, which focuses on economics and policy
I covered all manner of subjects ranging from the Inverted Yield Curve to a tax proposal aimed at Amazon.
Here are what I think the 3 best things I wrote this month (feel free to disagree with me).
1. The 10 Commandments of FIRE
This article was a lot of fun to write. I have spent several years learning all I can about the Financial Independence, Retire Early (FIRE) movement. If you are unfamiliar with the concept, the oversimplified explanation of FIRE is to live below your means, invest as much as possible until your passive income can cover your living expenses.
There is much more to it than that. This article focuses on the 10 things we can control that I believe are most important for those pursuing FIRE.
2. 24-Year-old Making $61,000 Feeling Depressed about Finances
As a personal finance nerd, it’s fun when someone is willing to share their entire financial situation and seek input from the internet. That is what this 24-year old did when he went to Reddit to ask for input on how he could feel less stressed about money.
The important thing to remember with this story is just because someone appears to be in a “good” financial situation does not mean they can’t be stressed out about money.
Money is emotional, it’s not simply a math problem. Money causes anxiety for just about everyone, especially those who have had a history of money issues.
Financial anxiety does not go away just because our financial situation has improved.
3. How to Save a Life-Changing Amount of Money
I love when research firms poll the general public and ask interesting money questions. A recent poll found that the average American considers $19,800 to be a “life-changing” amount of money.
In this article, I breakdown step by step, how most people could go about saving $19,800 and in the process, change their life.
Thanks to you all for taking the time to read my writing and look forward to discussing even more interesting topics in May.
